History

Hendricks County was established in 1824, and is one of 92 counties in Indiana. It was named in honor of Indiana Governor William Hendricks. Hendricks County is the one of the  fastest growing county in Indiana. Danville, the county seat, was established in 1827 and was named to honor Daniel Bales. From 1878 to 1951 it was to home of Central Normal College, which specialized in training teachers. The Hendricks County Historical Museum is located in an 1866 building that was originally the Sheriff's Residence in Danville.
